Luminita Labusca MD, PhD is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Emergency County Hospital “Saint Spiridon” Iași and Senior Scientist at the National Institute of Research and Development in Advanced Physics, Iași. Trained in orthopaedics, regenerative medicine, stem cell biology and musculoskeletal ultrasound, she works at the interface between clinical practice, translational research and biomedical engineering.
Her clinical and research focus includes musculoskeletal regeneration, osteoarthritis, cartilage, tendon and bone repair, stem cell and extracellular vesicle biology, nanomaterials for targeted delivery, magnetic nanoparticles, medical imaging and regenerative medicine technologies. This dual clinical–scientific perspective allows unmet patient needs to be translated into biologically relevant experimental questions, and laboratory findings to be evaluated through the lens of feasibility, safety and clinical usefulness.
She is a founding member of REGENERO, the Romanian Regenerative Medicine Association, and has authored peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and patents. For Luminita, regenerative medicine offers a way to move beyond symptom control toward restoring tissue function — a commitment to therapies that are mechanistically sound, clinically meaningful and realistically translatable.
